PopGist develops the novel search ranking algorithm based on auto discovered and topic focused expert pages, and the innovative result presentation interface with discussion threads. Given a list of search result, PopGist discovers topic specific expert pages, fetches pages in the result list, analyzes them in multiple dimensions and detects spam pages, then reranks and presents them in threaded format. PopGist improves the relevancy of the existing search engines and provides better user search experience.
The prototype in popgist.com demonstrates the power of PopGist technology by utilizing the search feed provided by Yahoo BOSS. Comparing with the original Yahoo search results, the overlap in the top ten results between Google and Yahoo significantly increases by using PopGist search ranking algorithm for most of the queries tested.
Note: Currently Yahoo BOSS doesn't have API to get full content of a page in the search result, so PopGist has to fetch pages in the result list for each query and this makes PopGist slow to response to user queries. Hope this problem can solve in the near future.
